Is Your Diet Making You Fat?

There are so many diet and weight loss strategies being promoted as the best way to slim down that it is hard to discern which make sense and which are a waste of your time and money. First of all let's be clear no one I have met in over twenty years of training clients was interested in just losing weight. People who come in to see me want to lose fat, they don't want to just lose weight. People who come to personal trainers want to end up with tight, lean bodies and increased muscle tone. In this article I'ld like to discuss the merits of the diet programs that suggest that you can eat any type of food you want, still reduce your body fat and keep it off provided that you restrict the amount of calories that you consume each day. While a caloric reduction program may help you lose weight initially it is ultimately an unsustainable method to acheive weight control. Even more importantly caloric reduction programs are not the best way to reduce body fat, which as I pointed out is the goal of people who express a concern about losing weight in the first place. .

I don't know how many times I have heard dieticians; the "so called" experts explain that individuals should strive to keep their calorie consumption within a certain range to control their weight. They go on to say gaining weight is ultimately a matter of how many calories a person consumes. Finally, these experts add that provided you stay within a certain calorie range you shouldn't feel the need to restrict yourself completely from eating any of the foods that you normally eat. The problem is that we have found from studying our personal training clients food diaries over the years is that in reality many of the things that people normally eat today aren't really foods at all. These non-foods have little or no nutritional value and simply add fat to your body and, or block your bodies ability to absorb the vital nutrients from the foods that you do consume. Most of the people we see think that because they have strictly reduced their caloric intake that it is okay to give in to the urge to occasionally indulge in sugary sweets, or to snack on chips. Afterall as the experts have repeatedly said weight loss is simply a numbers game. Calories in versus calories out. But what we have found over and over again is that people are scrupulosly limiting thieir calories so that they can have some ice cream, or drink alcohol when they go out at night. As a result people come to us all the time who are starving their bodies at the same time that they maintain their consumption of non-foods. We teach people to do the opposite. On our nutrition plans you must first eat at least a specified minimum amount of food from your nutrition plan before you can consume any non-food items. The goal is to gradually eliminate non-food items completely, but by requiring clients to eat a minimum amount of food from their nutrition plan first we make sure that their bodies aren't starving for nutrition. An additional benefit from maximizing nutrition instead of limiting calories is that we find that clients are often too full to eat any non-foods anyway.

Nutritional Optimization

Our philosophy at ThirdPower Fitness is that no one should ever be on a diet and you should never count calories. In fact we can show you how to eat as much food as you want while you reduce your bodyfat level at the same time. You see what we have found after helping thousands of clients dramatically reduce their body fat and get into shape is that the problem for most people is not that they eat too much. In fact we have found that the reason why most people succomb to eating food that they know isn't good for them is because they allow too much time to transpire between each time they provide their bodies with nutrition. The key then is to have a plan to provide your body with plenty of the right foods at just the right time. In this way you will find that you won't feel the urge to binge on foods that aren't good for you. You won't be able to eat any type of food that you want. But as part of our nutritional plan we also show you how to re-set your palette in one to two days so that you don't crave sugary food. You will be able to eat as much as you want every time you have a meal, provided you eat only the foods that are included in the nutritional optimization plan for fat loss. Most people who have tried it are shocked at how quickly their bodies start to shed body fat on this program.
